Since I just declined a group invitation again, a little clarification on the why behind that.
I've been in a few groups a while ago. Followed an invitation, applied for a few others, &c.

I didn't like it.

First of all, my inbox was way too full most of the time. There were nice images among those, but the time it took to clean up was more than I was willing to invest – contrary to the point of groups I haven't found the signal to noise ratio much different from other ways of finding images I like.

Then there is the point that I submit almost all my images under CC anyway. Anyone is free to include them in their group if they want to, no permission by me even required (though I think dA requires it anyway, although that's covered by Creative Commons). So if you want one of my pictures in your group just do so, but don't ask me to select. In my experience I have been a very poor judge of what other people consider a good picture and groups are – ultimately – run by not me.

In any case, I won't start with groups again. This may make it sound like an addiction, but it was more a nuisance. I won't consider joining any group again. This isn't for any elitist reason that I think my pictures are too bad for a particular group or that I consider myself above joining groups. I just didn't like the experience that came along with it.

For those who still have time four hours from now and a camera nearby. I definitely like the idea and I'm eager to see what comes from it.

I noticed today that I have an unfamiliar character in front of my user name. My ~ seems to have been replaced by an *, at least temporarily.

I have to thank the wonderful pluffypluffy for this and in doing so I thought I'd highlight a few of her pictures that caught my eye. I found her through the 22nd picture of her "One picture a day for 365 days" project:
22.365 by pluffypluffy
From there on I stumbled over quite a few great pictures and now that I went back into her gallery even more.

From her 365 pictures project:

So, thanks again, Rachel
I hope I can put it to good use, despite not being able to take pictures right now ;)

Been outside, taking photos again with my father. On my way back I accidentally dropped the CF card on the floor. Well, no big deal, those things probably withstand being submerged in molten rock for all I know without losing data so I didn't worry.

However, a small grain of sand got wedged in one of the holes for the pins and upon reinsertion in the camera it caused the pin in the camera's CF card slot to be pushed into its socket. Now the camera doesn't read a card anymore :'(.

I got the card cleaned so at least I get to the pictures without destroying a card reader. But I have no idea how to pull out the pin in the camera again.

Guess I'll ask in a shop here what repair costs :'(

So long you'll have to suffer through my older pictures, then =p
